U.S. Laser Corporation

History

U.S. Laser Corporation was formed in July 1979, by Robert (Rib) Regna and Carl Miller, both formerly with Holobeam Lasers, the premier solid state laser manufacturer of the 1960's. Rib and Carl saw a need, in the laser industry, for a provider of systems who would properly stress integration and applications support, rather than laser hardware. This emphasis on problem solution continues to be the charter of U.S. Laser.

20 years later, Rib and Carl continue to own and operate the company, making U.S. Laser unique (in terms of longevity under constant ownership) in the solid state laser industry.

Initially, U.S. Laser operated principally as a systems integrator, utilizing lasers and ancillary equipment from other sources. Over time, an increasing portion of the system components have been designed in house. In particular, Nd:YAG lasers, optical assemblies and components, and control electronics are now generally of in-house design.

In recent years, several government programs (SBIR, CRADA) have assisted U.S. Laser's product development, especially in high power lasers (CW and Q-switched) and fiber optic beam delivery.

Today

Today, U.S. Laser Corp. is the leading U.S. manufacturer of Nd:YAG lasers and laser systems for industrial materials processing. We offer the widest range of output powers (from 7 watts TEM00 to >2000 watts), plus Q-switched, frequency doubled and quadrupled models. We can provide standard and custom turnkey systems for marking, welding, cutting, scribing, trimming, soldering, and specialty applications. Our fully equipped laser applications lab is available for demonstration and process development.

U.S. Laser Corp. occupies a modern 20,000 ft2 facility in Wyckoff NJ. Our employees, most of whom have been with the company for over 10 years, include laser processing specialists, development and design engineers (optics, mechanics, electronics, software) and trained support personnel. They are augmented by a network of local machine shops and optical fabrication houses.
